Overall I had a rather wonderful weekend. I need a little detoxing today because it seems I didn’t sleep all that well. Saturdays dinner boat ride was amazing! The moon was near full so the view was stunning, but thats not what I want to talk about today. As you know I am a thinker. And a watcher. Sunday’s NASCAR party, I will be the first to admit, I don’t “get” NASCAR, but this is an annual party with over fifty of my closest friends so all in all, I had a blast. One of the games we play every year is we all draw names from a bucket of the 43 driver’s in the race. The first bucket we draw from is our potential winners, the second our potential losers. We, of course, pay for these draws. As the race went on, I wandered about, socialized, played some of the other games available and pretty much forgot the race all together. Which is OK, there was much entertainment there. As the race ended, I brought out my names and a friend started chanting and swaggering, “I’m the winner, I’m the winner!” In amazement at my luck, I started dancing and singing “Oh yeah, I’m a loser. I’m a loser!” Prize to first place, and same prize to last place, remember?

The take from, yes it’s here. There will always be models that appear to be “better” than other models, but it is not so. Because one day when you least expect it, that weakest link may prove to be the strongest, they just may save the show. So never look down upon another person, embrace them their differences. We as models are at our best only when we work together. As the Polish poet Stanislaw Lec once astutely penned,”The weakest link in a chain is the strongest because it can break it.” Just a little something to think about on a high gravity Monday. I know I said today I would blog Unified Heart 2013, but I think it will hold until tomorrow the opening day. (Psyche) Because that was yesterday, then I read this on a friends FB page, “Did you know the people that are the strongest are usually the most sensitive? Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated? Did you know the one who takes care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it the most? Did you know the 3 hardest things to say are I love you, I’m sorry, and Help me.” And every single word pinged a little knock on my heart. In fact, while writing this I just had to take a moment to breathe, to reflect and to draw myself out of myself just to write the next sentence. To those I have hurt or not helped, I am sorry I thought what I was doing was so important I couldn’t help you. For those who have hurt me, I forgive you whether you want me to or not. For those who need care, I am here and my ears and my heart are open. For those who think this doesn’t apply to them, read it again and really think about yourself. Life is good, when we allow it to be so. Just realize, we all occupy space and at times it is a microcosm of it, so watch those elbows and knees, those thoughts and words, because our space often orbits one anothers. The take from, yep its here. Sugar is sucrose, which is actually two simple sugars stuck together: fructose and glucose. Adding a little acid (lemon juice or an acidic personality) causes sugar to break down, which can be okay, I suppose. We’ve all got THAT friend, right? But if you get too many acidic friends, the over-saturation causes the sugar to crystallize and it’s all, erm, uh, “gritty” from there. So I guess the take from is, do you want to be the sugar or the one who causes all the “grit”?

My friend Kallisto Destiny, bish that she is, emailed me yesterday a screen shot of her closet filled with the new items from Maitreya… Knowing I wouldn’t be inworld until today around 9AM SLT, but I forgive her, she’s not really the acidic kind, she’s more the pointy elbow person. I digress, but I had to put a little character assassination in there, because Cao’s are that way.(hmmm maybe I’m the acid) A few weeks ago, Kalli the designer for Drift, sent me this amazing “City” coat. I’ve always loved classic style and there is nothing more classic than a chic houndstooth, no? I paired the coat with a classic cut pant “My High Pant” from Marcopol Oh of La Penderie De Nicole. I’ve missed Marco a lot lately, but I finally spoke to him inworld a few days ago, he is doing fine, other than he is currently having computer issues, but his new computer is on the way and we should see him about again in February. And the best news is he is going to be opening a new store at Salimar’s new mall! YAY! For those who do not know, we have renovated Salimar and in addition to the bigger, brighter area for the Couturier’s Dock (shhhhh next round January 30,2013- more info later) there will be several stores available there including, *SoliDea FoliEs*, *LpD*, LD Major, AD Creations Dollhouse, HMAEM, Le Penderie De Nicole, just to name a few. I’m looking forward to his return, and the return of the Couturier’s Dock. I sure hope you are too. In the mean time, check out Gizza, Drift, Dura, and La Penderie, I know they have something for every taste! Look down below, I actually even included the taxi’s for you!

gil LibDescent’s “Gil”

Once when I was in line at the grocer I was behind a couple who were chatting. From their desultory converse I picked up he was a hunter (as if the attire wouldn’t give it away) and one of the things I overheard made me smile inside. He mentioned to his wife that his favorite thing to hunt was in his home, a “dear face and a bare arse.” That saying has stuck with me for a bit now, honestly can’t seem to shake it. So I pull it out from time to time for a little laugh.

Today I am going to blog about pose makers again, I seem to be on a roll, this is my fourth in just a few weeks, but its been fun to blog “from the other point of view.” And the way I do it is kind of fun. I cycle through a few of the poses and try to figure out what the sequence “means” to me, then style myself. But, having seen and used Lib of LibDescents poses in the past, as well as following his blog, I knew his poses are quirky and artistically eclectic, so I wanted to create the style then add the poses. I volleyed around using the swan outfit from Ladies Who Lunch, but after the second day, the excitement left again. A little down, something made me think of my happy phrase “A dear face and a bare arse,” which of course reminded me of the incredibly cool group gift from Aliza Karu of AD Creations Dollhouse, which in turn made me wonder if a man says this statement to his human girlfriend, what does the animal buck deer say to his? I know, I think really weird like that. Bet your happy you don’t have to travel in my brain, right?

lib she LibDescent’s “She”

Well, if I was a lady deer, I’d dress like this, but more importantly when I saw a buck coming, I’d flash him a few of those poses as well. As an aside to my best dragon, see? I can even work knickers into my non-human looks. So there! I am unrepentant, yet thoughtful too, because I even included the, um, hunting buggy for you! Happy Hunting! Taxi:

The.Show.Went.On.

Baoba Spiral as worn by Kay Fairey

The show, as always went on. In a one SIM runway show, with an audience and participants reaching a total ebb and flow of 80, the show went on. Amazing, resilient, with fortitude, aplomb and grace. These are just a few of the words I can use to describe the models who took time from their lives to stand with me in awareness of crimes of domestic violence and I could not be more proud. You see, most of us have become spoilt with our two, three and four SIM runway shows. Shows where the audience gets to watch the model as if gazing anticeptically at her through an aquarium glass. These models kicked it up old school, without a complaint, with much humor, and with very little attrition. Yes, almost every one of them stayed. Despite being tossed to the Gods of the Lindens several times. In quasi-runway show walkorder (I had to move them about a bit as they were whisked away by Fate), thank you with all of my heart, CC Teardrop, Kim Rongyu, Mimmi Boa, Blackliquid Tokyoska, Irina Strazytski, Draakje Dailey, Gamp Lane, Kay Fairey, Catlyn Sahara, Jen Tafler, Sessie16 Resident, Jaosi Odriscoll, Algezares Magic, Ekaterina Tolczyner, Alethia Bonham, Tai Galicia, Xia Firethorn, Laura18 Streeter, Amelia Foxtrot, Kathrin Dassin, Jessilyn Brandi, Belladonna Wexhome, Arialee Miles, Annough Lykin, and Catlyn Sahara. A special and love-filled thank you to my little dragon Draakje Dailey, for helping with strong hands, listening to me fuss at times, but always being there as the faithful friend she is. This show would have gone no where without you. I am so honored to have worked with each and every one of you! Thank you for your kind heart to bring awareness to the forefront of peoples minds this week!

But, of course, there would not be a show without the Designers selflessly removing their “labels” from their outfits so we could anonymously wear their products! And Wow! as always you all amazed me, I wish I had just a tenth of the creativity our designers have! Thank you so much for participating! Thank you Aliza Karu for your kind donation of the SIM and to you and MarkWD Hellendale for creating our wonderful black and white, yin and yang runways! A special thank you to my new friend the live vocalist and DJ Scarlet Damour, who held such patience and grace as we tried to free up some lag and thank you to an old flickr friend, Willhelm Ewing, Pyramid Cafè TV, and specifically the video shooting talent of Trisha Abbot, who with no small amount of magic, allowed us to stream the show live for the overflowing audience.

Yin and Yang Couture Fashions By Ebony Baoba Sprial

I want to extend a kind thank you to Ramonzita, I honestly do. Thank you Ramonzita for in kindness realizing the import of this show, and allowing us to forge on without wreaking havoc. Most of all, thank you to our audience. I was overwhelmed by your numbers, by your exuberance and oh so proud to stand with you as we raised awareness of 2Lei’s “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.” We have done so little but we have done so much. If one person in all of the week picks themselves up and helps just one battered victim, we have not only raised awareness, we have won a small victory. Thank you to my reader’s as well, for not wandering away as my blog was one dimensional last week. With happiness, and a touch of sadness that the week is over, I look forward now.

Aware.

No.Playing.On.The.Furniture.

No.Playing.On.The.Furniture.

When I was about six or seven years old, I was playing outside and a furry animal flew by with its arms and legs spread wide like wings. I asked my mum what the creature was and she said it was a “flying squirrel.” Well, as is oft the way, sometimes from the smallest most mundane happenings, a family tradition is born. From that day forward, my greatest passion was to be a flying squirrel. It is not an easy feat, I assure you. Luckily my parents bedroom is on one end of the house and mine at the opposite side, because it takes a great distance of running to execute the perfect flying squirrel. Actually that “luckily” is probably more apropos for my parents because they could always hear my feet running down the hall long before I launched myself arms and feet wide yelling “flying squirrel” as I landed in the middle of their king-size bed. As a teenager, I no longer thought my parents would wait every night in the hopes I would flying squirrel them, so I added a loud “whee” as I ran down the hall, so they had time to, well, quit watching TV or something before I launched between them.

I had heard that as we mature we put away childish things and habits and become adults. I said I heard it, not that I believe it. Don’t ever believe it, okay? Declare a moratorium on silly rules today. “No playing on the furniture” should be at the top of the list. It’s just furniture, it can be replaced, that smile on your face when you “get away” with breaking this parent-centric rule is priceless. I can’t imagine a world without “flying squirrels” or bouncing on the bed. Luckily for my parents, every time I visit them, I am known to launch a few at them for old times sake. I am sure they appreciate that they are always loved enough to get one, no matter how big I get, because after all, I will always be their little girl.

Be.Multi-Dimensional.

Evolve.Update.Adapt.Transform.

I think one of the most freeing aspects of Second Life is it allows you to explore. Whether it’s explore the hidden facets of your soul or in my limited little way, to explore the boundaries of my fashion “sense” or, as I assume, some feel, my non-sense. But see? It doesn’t really matter in the end, because the journey is our own, and tailored to our own tastes. I don’t think I have ever been the traditional “ballgown” type of model, don’t get me wrong, I do model gowns, and I love it but on a day to day sense, I prefer to make my own way and create my own looks.

One of my fave loves about Second Life is texture and color! I can’t get enough! In the above picture I am wearing the “Rebellion” jacket from House of Fox. I chose this jacket because I like the way the satiny red material plays softly to frame the face, the gathered waist and the ruffles hem-line. Simple lines really but the complication is in the detailing. The minute I donned it, I felt the rebellion coming on. I could have worn the matching red bell bottom pants, I could have worn simple tights, but on this day I was craving more texture, so I slipped into Miamai’s “jeunesse” jeans (it’s an old design line, I was kind of wondering if they were faded from so much use!) I found comfort in the gently cascading layers of leather that flair over the hips and end just above knee. I kind of like the way the simple lines of the jacket have to compete a little with the more complex layers of pant in their quest for the viewer’s attention. But in all ways, it fulfilled the mood, in the end, clothes can be just as soul-soothing as a big bowl of Macaroni and Cheese. Well, almost.

Evolve.Update.Adapt.Transform

Like most models, there are so many times I am just unsure of my sense of style. Well, I kind of get away with it, since I’ve only myself to please, but I do still have the little nudgies now and then. I think one way to compete with yourself on this when you feel it, is to wear a simple dress and fashion around it. Try this weekly, first of all, because it’s good practice, second because it makes you create and visualize. I am wearing Celoe’s “May” dress. A dress that by itself is adorable with its satin material and tiny belt. Honestly, what sold me on this dress is the cut around the hips. I like how it didn’t try to squeeze me to death, it’s a perfect “high gravity” Monday dress, for when you may need to hide the excessiveness of the weekend. Working with my Monday theme, I left my hair tousled with Lelutka’s Salome, and covered any dark circles with “Cat Eyes” from [GOS]. To give this look a more glamorous, “I know what I am doing” attitude, I threw on gorgeous leather and lace collar, and the outrageously Glam red leather gloves from .Shi. And because you know Monday’s, they are always high gravity, I packed up my largest handbag, AD Creations Dollhouse’s Mesh Bag (free just for leaving a comment on a purchase at the Market Place about AD Creations). It is simply the perfect bag for taking all those much needed Monday doodads with you, you know, Tylenol, candybars, extra makeup, your favorite Jack Russell Terrior-ist, KT (thats her spelling not mine, I think she’s not too bright, but I love her anyway.)

Well, as you can probably see, my high gravity Monday is being written about on Tuesday so I better wander away now. Just adore you all soooo much and wish you a peacefully light remainder of the week. This week for me so far kind of reminds me of the saying, “After Monday and Tuesday, even the week says WTF.”
