I Love You, but I’m Not In Love With You..

I Love You, But I'm Not In Love With You

What’s it been? A month, maybe two, since the fated “blind” date? Boy time flies when you become a thirty-something single chick whose mum’s biological clock is ticking. These weeks have been filled with enough angst it’d make a healthy and normal twenty year old puke her brains out to get back her youthful girlish figure. I always swore I would never worship in that church because at some point in a relationship it shouldn’t be so hard and the couple should become comfortable, shouldn’t they? You know, kinda like a nicely worn and comfortable pair of Christian Louboutin smoking slippers. Right? And to be honest, lately, just every once in a while, I see this glaring sign above Jay’s head that glows a huge neon, “he’s not that into you.” I don’t know what it is, I suppose I could be imagining it, but it’s happened a few times, so at some point you just have to go with your gut instinct. Well, maybe you don’t, but I do. Why? Because I can compromise on some things. When I purchased my Jeep a few years ago, I compromised on power door locks to get the year and model in a white color that I wanted. I regret not having power locks at times, but I can live with it. But I can’t compromise on me. I won’t compromise when it comes to me, I am not the small stuff, I am the important stuff.

I Love You, But I'm Not In Love With You

The take from? There are so many degrees to love. You can love and marry a friend, and perhaps in the long run this kind of stability is what you are looking for. I believe my parents are of this nature, which is fine for many, I suppose. If you are the sort who prefers quiet comfortable penny loafers in a relationship, my hat’s off to you. But me? I want the Christian Louboutin’s of passion, worship, and love that will ignite and then slow burn to the softest brightest embers of old age. Is that so wrong? I know I might never get there, but for now, I think I am going to hold out for Lauren Bacall’s Bogart, Cleopatra’s Antony, or Yoko Ono’s John Lennon. ‘Course, I might just go buy a new pair of shoos instead, I haven’t quite decided yet.

Yesterday I completed Second Life’s 10 year anniversary, 30 days 30 blogs challenge. I’d like to say it was difficult, but since I was blogging every day anyway, it truly wasn’t. But it did point out to me that it’s time to slow down. If I just found pictures online to blog around my words, it might be a little easier but I have to buy something, style and shoot the pictures too. I was a little disheartened yesterday because after spending an hour or so shooting the picture for my blog, I noticed my graphics were set to low. I have no clue how they reset, but it did. So while I tried to “cure” my picture in Photoshop I realized, in my rush to blog I had forgotten how much I love Photoshop itself. So another part of slowing down and resting is I can now relax and play more in photoshop. Hopefully I can produce some pictures worth seeing, only time and practice will tell that tale.

The Seduction of Couture Outfit: Champagne Sparkling Fashion, Breezy **NEW**. Shoos: [Gos] Grace sandal. Cigarette holder: JCNY, Madama Couture cigarette. Pose’s: Di’s Opera, Fatale Series.

A few weeks ago one of my mad and famous friends, Enzo Champagne asked me if I would model for a vendor picture for his store Champagne! Sparkling Fashion. I couldn’t possibly resist, I adore Enzo and he is actually an incredible photographer. So without further ado, here is Enzo’s newest creation, “Shaking.”

CHAMPAGNE! sparkling couture’s new release, “SHAKING,” does this to you. This stunning vintage minidress has the extraordinary details that we have come to expect from CHAMPAGNE! sparkling couture. A nod to the 1920’s, the look feels timeless, and could easily be imagined on the heroines of the period such as Lillian Gish, Marion Davies, or at any lush or swanky private soiree!

Combining the essence of sex with couture, “SHAKING” is a spaghetti string minidress, with very elaborate look, that resembles richly textured golden threads, cut to create an aesthetically pleasing feel. The arms, back, and shoulders are exposed in a seductive manner, as the dress swoops to frame the hips perfectly, stopping just at the thigh, which offers an elongated glimpse, all the way down to the ankles.

Mesh demo of CHAMPAGNE! sparkling couture’s new release, “SHAKING,” is available at the mainstore location. This design is offered in purple, brown, blue and black. Always adding something special, included with the dress are gorgeous, shimmering, gold crush headpiece and hanging earrings, that are versatile and beautiful. The model bringing this masterpiece to life is Miss Caoimhe Lionheart.

Be sure to make your way to CHAMPAGNE! sparkling couture, to collect the latest release “SHAKING!” This is one beautiful number, you surely do not want to miss!

for a glittering life!

Poetry is truth in its Sunday clothes ~ Joseph Roux

Poetry is Truth in its Sunday clothes

I can’t write a lick of it, but I do love to read it. Poetry is the most amazing thing to me. How a person can express their feelings and it creates music to the ears. Don’t know how I got here today, I suppose it’s because I’ve read a few rather poetic blogs recently. To those friends pouring their hearts out poetically from day to day, my hats off to you because you make me remember to feel life as I live it. As for the ciggy? Nasty habit I would never partake in, but think about it, kind of like poetry it elicits poetry of its own, a steamy affair, a last taste of a lover, ah, maybe that’s just what it feels like to me.

Poetry is Truth in its Sunday clothes a

Take from? If you have the ability to “wax poetic” as my friend Tocksin,( http://tocksin.wordpress.com/ ) calls it, don’t ever stop. Please don’t stop. It’s the poets of the world who dress up the crass and mundane rituals, polishing them softly to add dimension and color. Somehow, you just make life a little more live-able. Have a wonderfully gussied up Sunday. As for me, I think I’ll go take a nap.

Paradise Dreamt

Paradise dreamt

I admit it, there are times when I am worthless as a Second Life blogger. Don’t get me wrong, I love Second Life and adore the friends I’ve found there, it’s just every once in a while, I yearn to be elsewhere and having “retired” from modeling two years ago now, it becomes easier and easier to give in to these whims and just wander away. Summer is consistently the moment when my gaze pulls from the computer monitor to out the window where I see a cacophony of sound and color. Whether its an early morning sunrise, the bright rainbow of para-surfer’s gliding up and down the beach, or the heavily salted scent backdropping the deep fuschia of the hibiscus plants dotting up and down the lawn, I want to be there dead center in the thick of it.

Crescent Beach Sunrise Crescent Beach

I think some times its hard to let yourself be happy. Do you? Sometimes we just get so caught up in “stuff” we don’t take the time to stand back and take a good look at what we are doing to ourselves. We scurry about, over-extending our commitments and then stress because we have so much left undone. We are so worried about letting people down we don’t realize we are letting our first love, ourselves, down. What good is a life when you won’t even stand up for the most important person in it? Seems selfish, doesn’t it? Sometimes one of the most selfLESS acts we can do is to forgive ourselves. Forgive ourselves for needing time for ourselves, forgive ourselves for having the need to cradle your own wants and needs for once.

Quit acting like a martyr, it’s not a criminal act to make something about YOU for once. You deserve special, you deserve to be the center of the attraction, you deserve the last piece of the pie too. It’s like we, as women feel we must always serve others first. Don’t get me wrong, service to others is a wonderful, fulfilling commitment, but is it necessary to be subservient to others? Big difference. I think it a learned response honesty. My mother was the same way, as probably was her mother, on and on back into history. But as a learned response, it can be unlearned as well. All we need is to learn to create boundaries instead. Cherish those around you, but hold a piece of the cherishing for yourself. By learning to take care of the one doing the caring, we become happier and healthier.

I know, a little high gravity today, but it’s a Tuesday, we have the rest of the week to recover. Take from? Sure. Don’t tie yourself needlessly to things or people. Help where you can, motivate and delegate in other areas, stand by and watch in the least important (to you) activities. You can’t possibly do it all and it’s really not necessary that you do. In life there is no grand finish line at the end so racing toward, well, nothing, hardly seems a beneficial lifestyle. Slow down, love what and who surround you, never stop learning, never stop growing and sharing but always remember to give time to yourself, even if just to take a few moments to rest, close your eyes and breathe. We all have our definition of paradise but it should never be some conceptual dream hidden in our subconscious, create your own paradise in the here and now, it’s your life, don’t you deserve it?

This week’s meme is borrowed again from Strawberry Singh. Thanks Berry, you made my Monday have a lot less gravity. I am wearing *LpD* today, Taxi: Nevery Lorakeet of Les Petits Details is involved with so many of the different events going on at the moment it was hard to choose what to include in the blog but in the end, I decided the new “Onde” dress would work perfectly for a high impact Monday because they look positively glam with the “Mae” platform shoos from GOS Boutique Taxi: . These shoos really are incredible, the HUD has a onetime skin matching system with over 250 skin brand tones in their database that automatically textures to match the skin you wear. Isn’t the final look adorable with the new *DURA* Taxi: girl 45 hairs? Thrown on and done! As an aside, I wanted to throw a little rumor out here before I start the meme. I heard a rumor a little Cao and some friends are thinking about starting a Second Life Modeling school. But before we jump, I am curious, is there anyone out there interested in attending? Just imagine, you too can learn to be as clumsy as me! Please let me know what you think.

meme1See how amazing? the skin color matches perfectly on these shoos!

1. How long have you been blogging? Since June 2011. Don’t you DARE laugh!

2. Why did you start blogging? My friend Draakje Dailey had a blog and I always ran into her shopping everywhere, personally I think she was stalking me, but being a nice docile Cao I never told her I knew what she was doing. She made me read showed me her blog and I was hooked and wanted to have one of my own.
3. How many times a week do you post an entry? I try to blog every single day since I am a writer at heart. I think it helps my creativity to keep exercising my words. Sometimes it’s difficult because I have to shop, style and take pictures for each blog but for the most part at least 6 times a week.
4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? Hundreds! Friday is my blog read day and when I awake in the morning I have 114 blog update emails waiting for me in my inbox. I think the bloggers I follow are the coolest people in the world and I hate to miss a week of seeing what they are up to. I read SL blogs, RL blogs and lots of blogs of other writers and artists.
5. Do you comment on other people’s blogs? Yes, I do quite often. When I commit to another person’s blog I like to be all in. I think it’s good to know another person somewhere in the time/space continuum thought enough of my blog to leave a comment, so I like to do the same. It’s kind of like receiving little virtual flowers on an otherwise mundane day.
6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? I obsess about it. So much I oft wonder if I am obsessive compulsive creature. WordPress tells you if your readership is up or down a certain percentage from week to week and I always want to cry when my percentage is down. So please do me a favor, if you peek at my blog, hit your home key and come back to my blog about 20 times or so. The depression you lift may be my own. (just kidding, of course.. sort of… I guess.)
7. Did you ever regret a post that you wrote? No, not really. I sometimes pause prior to publishing because at times I remark on subjects that I am unsure how they will be received by my audience (like the dating blogs) but in the end I figure there’s no need to hide my “blemishes” from the world, they are what makes me uniquely beautifully me. Though honestly, most of what I write on the dating topic is said in gest. I love to smile and I love to laugh so if I can make one reader laugh, it typically makes me do both.
8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? To an extent, yes. As I said, some things are said to be funny, but for the most part I am a pretty “face-value” person and try to be open and honest. Like the comment I made in a prior blog about my mum and how my dog Katy ate my mums hormone pills, it happened and that’s just how me and my mum are. A little forgetful and inattentive. So in betwixt the lines of the words there is a huge sense of who I am.
9. Do you blog under your real name? No, I blog under my second life name. I have never blogged under my real name, yet, but possibly will in the future if I cross out of Second Life. I can’t see myself ever giving up blogging; I am a writer after all.
10. Are there topics that you would never blog about? Not sure. There are probably lots of topics I shouldn’t blog about, but I think I’d probably be willing to give anything that interests me a try. One of the things I enjoy about blog topics is a lot of the time I am learning as I write.
11. What is the theme/topic of your blog? This is a difficult question for me because my topics are all over the place. I think my main pictorial topic is fashion, whether it pertains to real or Second Life; the two DO cross-over nicely. But, well, then there is word and peace as my little dragon Draakje Dailey likes to point out. So you get a view of life perspective from me at times and it seems to be popular given the nice comments I receive here and inworld. I am also, in real life and second life, an eclectic stylist, I always have been even when growing up, so I suppose I could be considered an “off off broadway” blogger/stylist.
12. Do you have more than one blog? If so, why? I do have more than one blog. I have An Chailin Alainn my first blog where I post topics and pictures, and I also occasionally update Lil Cao- Life and Times of a Second Life Model. Taxi: The Lil Cao blog is simply a no words blog that I upload my more artistic pictures to with the title typically the only words needed to garner the inspiration behind the style. I also have a private word only blog that I use to write short stories, or write about feelings or things I am going through at any particular time. Topics or words that wouldn’t quite fit as topics for An Chailin Alainn.
13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? It lowered my cholesterol 50 points. Just kiding, it’s helped me to grow. Both in my personal style and in my writing style. I’ve learned so many things. From research, from friends and from readers who just stop by. This has been an amazing trip from 2011 to today; I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
14. So, why do you continue to blog? I simply love blogging, writing and reading so I find blogging relaxing and fun. I try to entertain my readers on most days, hopefully I get there every once in a while for you but while thinking about the topics I write about it makes me take stock on where I fit in the big picture of this amazing complex world we live in.

Whew! That was long and hopefully not too boring. Remember, if you do the meme on your blog come here and put a link to it because I love to read the blogs of others.

I promised myself I wouldn’t do it, no Lil Cao thinking blogs during this Fashion for Life pre-opening week. Honestly I did try. I held it since Friday. But then there is always a catalyst. And I am, above all things, a watcher and thinker. I have a friend who is ill with Parkinsons Disease and suffers their days with debilitating pain, involuntary shaking and once a week excruciating physical therapy. In the midst of an argument the spouse of the friend complained everything that was wrong with the marriage was due to my friends disease, as if having the disease were a choice.

The.Playing.Ground.and.the.Big.Picture.1st box I opened was menswear…. But, I loved it! (worn without shirt and tie) FFL- Hairs: Dura, FFL1. Suit: Innuendo Italian, Neth. Purse: *CoCo*, Lip clutch

I held it in, well until yesterday that is. The office I work in is along the waterfront. The waterfront is a vibrant area with a marina, a few restaurants and a huge playground where families gather to let their children play. After work while driving along the waterfront my travels were mired and crawling due to policemen searching in the water for a fisherman who was killed while boating. I was very angry when I noticed cars stopping in the road to watch the process, it’s a road, quit watching and just drive! Of course, this didn’t happen, while stopped so the idiot in front of me could watch, I looked at the crowd gathered along the jogging path watching the scene unfold. People were there with their children, young children, all under five years old, looking to see a dead body. I was simply appalled! Is this something a child should see? But then, while sitting there a moment longer, it hit me. When it comes to the big picture, I am as obtuse as my friends spouse, the spectators, and the idiot driver. In my small ego-centrical way, in my worry of getting from work to home so I could walk my Jack Russell Terrior…ist, the big picture was hidden from view. Someone had lost a son, brother, father, spouse, friend, lover, or all of the above.

Take from? Yep, even this week. Cancer, like death, touches each and every one of us at some point. Whether in our own family, ourselves, a neighbor, loved one, or a friend. Are you the person who will help, or the person who will sit in your car and think about how your life has been inconvenienced by this victim? Me? I choose not to stand around and watch, I want to make a difference. Like this song, one of my favorite of all time, like The Fray, I choose to try to learn “How to Save a Life”. March 9th 2013, please join us at Fashion For Life in Second Life, it’s not just about Fashion. Together, we will make a difference. Remember 100% of the proceeds from sales goes directly to the American Cancer Society. SLURL’s are under the Fashion for Life Slurl’s page on the left of this blog. Feel free to use them through out the week of the 9th March.

Girls spend hours deciding what to wear, and all guys do is try to picture us naked.

Spring 2013 kimono-esque

All business today. I am without a home for the moment, so the picture quality may decline a little bit. I shot and styled all of these in just an hour (incuding cropping). I hope the style stands on it’s own though. I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a model. A tiny fishing village does not equate to high fashion on any playing field. But, I am a thinker. And, a studier. As an aside, when I grew up I was taught to never start a sentence with “and” or “but.” When I went to college they said that particular rule of English structure has been thrown out the window. Ah well, so here I am, even I picked up some of those radical liberal viewpoints whilst being brainwashed in college. I’m glad my mom doesn’t read my blog, though, my common memory of her as I was growing up were comments like “don’t dangle your participle!” I’d imagine using and and but to lead a sentence would pretty much spell the end of her sanity. But… I digress, as I said. I am a studier and thinker.

Today I was following up on the current Trends for Spring 2013 as presented by Style.com. Thinking it over, I decided to try to throw my interpretation on them. I had one set back, Second Life’s Spring lines aren’t out yet. But I think I did okay, well okay for a Cao. Who’s not a model. I’ll start with the 2013 styles will include modern plays on the kimono. See above? I am starting here, because what can I say, I love kimono’s. But also, because this picture is about a year old. See you guys think I dress funny, sometimes I am just a year ahead of the trend. ;)

Spring 2013 Contrast

The second trend we should be seeing is a continuation of contrasting colors. Not just black and white, like seen here. Also, Blue and orange, red and green. It is typically what you would think is a cool color, like blue and team it with a warm color, like red. These are brought down to singular, basic colors, but with so many colors on a spectrum, the sky is truly the limit.

Spring 2013 Collage

The next trend mentioned is collage. I earned a collage degree in 2008, oh wait. nevermind. I earned a college degree. The collage look is the use of sewing together different patterns to create a new look. They always seem to look a bit ethnic, or eclectic to me. Perhaps a bit Boho chic. Zaara is already in the game for this look since this is a last years sundress.

Springs 2013 veiled sheers

The next trend for Spring will be what is called “veiled” styling. There were a lot of sheer see-thru materials out this year during the RL fashion weeks. This one just hasn’t really come about much in Second Life yet, but it will be fun to see it if any designer’s decide to play with it. I’m wearing the sheer blouse from Gizza included in the Blazer suit outfit. (found by way of Chloe, kudos girl!). The rest of the look should be layered elements, but I stalled here due to time constraints and threw on a pair of quasi-layered pants.

Spring 2013 flounces

The next fashion trend you should be seeing this Spring is the flounce. I really like this look there are a lot of romantic and elegant things you can create with a flounce. Without the adorable layers of this dress, it would lose a lot of its depth and would be too plain to wear for anything other than everyday wear. I particularly love this look for Second Life because it adds a 3 dimensional effect in a basically two dimensional world.

Springs 2013 alpha females

And last, but certainly not least, and this is afterall, a look I wear more than others is the alpha female trend. Fuller eyebrows on women are back in (think Brooke Shields in the 70’s), as well as man cut jackets and pants. I like the look, but tend to like to soften it up some with things like wearing a bra as a shirt, or feminine jewelry.

Take from? Well of course, Second Life modeling isn’t really about playing dressup with your Barbie doll. You need to keep up with current styles, learn new styles or create a new trend in styles. It’s fun to throw on clothes, but to be the best at something you need to lead others by introducing those looks other avatars will crave to wear and own. I hope this was enough to get you excited about the coming Spring Fashions. Heck, I am just a lil Cao, a non-model. Just imagine what YOU could do! SLURLS are under the “Last known SLURLS page.

Well. I survived my foray into New Orleans. Who wouldn’t really? It’s such a gorgeously historic place. I just feel a little bit under the weather, which isn’t a good start to the new year. For my first blog of this New Year I’m not blogging clothes, so for the picture I chose this simple (and stunning) cowl-necked cocktail from Erratic Rain of the store Erratic and played it down with the Vanity jacket from the same designer. Short, simple and sweet.

A little over a week ago a dear friend of mine, who works for one of my favorite designers, began a rant on FB about an avatar in the store who didn’t change their shape so the system skirt she was wearing made her arse appear bigger than usual. For some reason, because of the simple fact the avatar was over two years old, my friend felt they should know about system skirts and design flaws. Well, I have to say, first of all, I adore this friend but I am of the sort who feels ranting on public forums probably isn’t the wisest course of action in any situation. But second, and more a point of my own shortcomings, I can attest as a fact that I myself had no clue about system skirts and arses until after two years of existence as well. Some of us take life at face value and just assume the situation is what it is. But after thinking on this for a few days I came to a conclusion of a blog I wanted to write, so here is the take from.

I get asked all the time which modeling schools I recommend. As you can see, I went to Mimmi Boa modeling academy, MVW academy (upper level courses), Outrageous Glamour advanced and Passion Academy (the only one that was free and I can say in this case free does not mean subpar, it is an excellent school taught by former MVW’s). I enjoyed them all, but this is what I feel about SL modeling courses. There is so much information you can learn without taking courses, so learn as much as you can by doing, by practicing, by interacting with other models. If you don’t know something, ask. Now, I DO recommend you attend at least one academy because it is a good way to meet other models, designer’s and really to get your name known a little faster. Talk to the schools, ask questions, talk to other models and see how they feel about the school from personal experience and choose one that is within your budget, because many of them are pricey and as I said, price doesn’t necessarily mean the education is better. So research and plan the course of action that makes YOU happy, because trust me, models don’t get rich, it definitely has to be a labor of love.

The second part of what I decided to blog. I have created pages (along the left panel of the front page) with some of the major tips and advice I’ve learned along the way. Many were taught to me and some I just picked up through experience but in all ways, I hope someone out there finds it helpful. Have a happy New Year and may your days be filled with love and kindness!

No hope for the human race

Recently while perusing failbook.com, I ran across this picture and had to pause. I’d like to think I’d save the child, but then what would I have to blog about? As luck would have it, camels are herbivores, so he’ll probably just give him a hair swirly and move on. Besides, this is one of those epic pics that just doesn’t get any better! You know the one. That pic of you taken when you were two years old and you faceplant in a mud puddle? Or the one taken when you were five and decided to play dress up with your mother’s makeup and clothes? Or better yet, the pic your best-friend-forever took of you when you left the ladies room at the bar and your skirt was tucked into your panty hose? Ok, ok, alcohol may have been involved in the last one. But you know the pics, all those little missteps and embarrassing moments that somehow always end up caught on picture. Those pictures that always seem to be shown over and over through the years and they never seem to lose their laugh appeal. The point is, we all have them, so own them. I think when we love ourselves enough to laugh at ourselves, we have truly grown up. If we spent half the time making fun of things we’ve done instead of making fun of what others are doing, the world would be a more peaceful place! So free it up this holiday and take a moment, and laugh. I hope you will be happy you did. As for the child, well, I’d probably be guilty of taking the pic. No, honestly? I’m kind of clumsy, I’d probably find my head in the camels mouth.
