Closing.Walls.Ticking.Clocks.

Closing.Walls.Ticking.Clocks.

Modeling is backwards sometimes. Recently while either flickr scanning, or possibly blog reading I ran across this clock from Gala Charron of [*Art Dummy!] called “In Time.” My Interior designer’s heart had a visceral response and I knew I had to blog around it but more strongly my musical heart immediately heard the piano riffs of Coldplay’s song “Clocks”. I have to admit, it’s often I think that way. I have always loved the song, it reminds me to slow down, enjoy life first and worry about the clock never, because worry seldom gets things accomplished.

I commented to Gala about how I was on my way to buy the clock, it was part of the 50 Linden Friday event so many designers are a part of, but when I arrived inworld, She had kindly given it to me. (Thank you! xo) The clock comes with 3 styles in the package and they actually work! Though my intention was to just blog it, it has now become a permanent fixture in my SL home.

So obviously, this is a blog about creating a look around an accessory, the accessory being the clock. So to complete the outfit I will list all the styling elements below. As an aside, the clothes style was built around an accessory as well. I saw this really groovy collar recently while visiting my friend Zib Scaggs of Zibska and Zibware’s marketplace and just knew I wanted to create an outfit around it. It’s one of those multi-dimensional eye-catching pieces that create a visual centerpiece guaranteed to draw attention.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week, as for me, I am looking forward to the weekend! Too many walls and clocks during the work week! Muwah! <3

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and every year approximately 50,000 die from this disease. Breast cancer is not a “women’s disease” it effects men and women of every nationality and age. Let’s work positively to help eradicate this cancer in our lifetime.

We are back!

PRETTY BALD IN PINK Photo Campaign is a charity project aimed to promote knowledge and support for cancer victims, families and everyone affected by this disease. Like last year, the idea is not to raise money, but to raise conscience and awareness about a subject that concern us all, to some more direct than to others.

Images will be posted on the PBIP blog, flickr and other media.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
————————————————————————–
Each participant of the PBIP Photo Campaign will take a picture of themselves in a black, white or pink background completely BALD and add the PBIP Logo, your name, your title or SL Business and either 1 sentence or 3 words that you think embody the idea of the PBIP Campaign. MAKE ALL IMAGES 1024×1024 or 1024×512 in size and add to the FLICKR group. If you would like, you can send images to pbipcampaign@gmail.com before November 15th. The best images received will be published in the Pretty Bald in Pink blog and the best works will be picked up by some SL bloggers and posted.

Make sure you add your images to the flickr group. If they are not on the group, they WILL NOT be posted on the blog.

Just a micro today, I am so spoiled. It took me some time to snap the picture, because the Lindens didn’t want to participate in my photography, but now done, my eyes wander out the back sliding door and the ocean beckons me. Butterfly’s everywhere, this incredible face piece, the one with the butterfly’s, is *SoliDea FoliEs* offering for the next “Fashion Limited” Store (limited quantity 50 items). No comment necessary about how incredible this would look in the clever photography so many of you do. As an aside, the cherry blossom geisha tattoo is one of the two tattoo’s I wear and it is from Lib Descent, isn’t it gorgeous? Enjoy the rest of your weekend or holiday! xo

Hardwear.Softwear.

Hardwear.Softwear.

I think one of the most eye catching ideas in fashion is playing with texture. Recently while perusing a Vogue magazine, I stumbled across a picture of a model in a spiked jacket and a romantically ruffled skirt and I fell in love. It’s amazing the nuances, the visual dimensions you can create by doing the unexpected with what you have on. It would have been okay to wear a soft top with this soft “Aviary tutu” skirt from Ladies Who Lunch, in fact it comes with a feathered top, but why keep so much sameness? To me the look was just itching for the Gizza “biker” jacket in black leather. The easy crowning piece for the ruffly rumped tutu is, of course, MaDesigns Aria hair in Club colors, this style is perfect for making a scene or being seen, whether on the runway or hanging at your fave rave.

I’ve had fun exploring with this, try mixing and matching your favorite textures yourself and let me know how you do and whether you like it or not. I’d love to hear from you all!

Sunset.Summer.

Sunset.Beach.

I just can’t believe there is about one more week of summer here. Where did it go? After rain nearly every day this summer, you would think I would be tired of it and ready for the fall, but with two hurricanes heading my way, I can’t think about it yet. But honestly, I do prefer autumn at the beach. We have a brief respite in time when the tourists go home after Labor Day (first week of September) and the Snow Birds flock in for the winter (January). I don’t care for the snow birds too much. I live in such a tiny place, the added “weight” of them makes you think your ground will sink into the sea.

Sunset.Beach.

But right now, I love to take long walks along the beach with my Jack Russell Terrior-ist “KT” (her spelling not mine), chat with my friends the sandpipers and while away the day. The above pic is a sneak peek of the upcoming Trend Magazine, “What’s in the Bag” column I have with my dragon, super-model Draakje Dailey. What better way to enjoy the last vestiges of summer than while wearing Leezu’s “Boho” Bikini in teal? This chic little bikini comes complete with the matching sarong and adorable flower petals that tickle the stomach when the wind blows. The hair is Lelutka and the cute sombrero is LaGyo. Really, what more does one need for the beach?

Sunset.Beach.

I’m going to wander away for a little bit now, and fresh squeeze the last remnants of summer into my memories before the snow bird’s return. I hope you find some fun way to commemorate this summer as well! If you happen to need a bikini for the trip, I’ve included the taxi for you! Taxi:

Think.Believe.Achieve.

Moving kind of slow, which is typical after a perfect weekend, but I wanted to mention a new store, L’accessoires. Love em or hate em, a good model always needs accessories to kick their look up a notch. It’s what separates the cleverly devised from the blandly ho-hum. And just because you throw a hat, or necklace or earrings on, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best choice for the outfit. So next time you need to style to the nines for an event, play dress up. Cycle through several shoe, jewelry, or any other accessories, don’t just run to the old fave, you will be surprised how finding the perfect accessory can create the perfect appearance.

Think.Believe.Achieve.

And luckily, for the time constrained models like me, L’accessoires has opened its door. I popped in last week and within 5 minutes purchased a top, three hats, a pair of bangles and sunglasses. Done and run, it doesn’t get any better than that. For more information, I fudgied the information from my dear friend and fellow model, MeiMei Shui’s blog and included it below. I had so much fun at the shop, I included the taxi for you! Enjoy! Taxi:

Postcard.To.A.Dear.Friend.

Recently, with so much joy, I watched a dear friend of mine turn forty. Forty. Such a milestone! I picture forty as standing on a precipice of Mont Blanc, as you look back you see all the pages of the life you have lived, the little mistakes, the big victories, all the dalliances, pains and joys that have softened your hard edges and just somehow made you softer, wiser, and perhaps nicer than you were at twenty. Hopefully we all become a little less opinionated and a little more forgiving because all we have lived will create the enlightened us of forty. And women always seem more in tune with themselves, more loving and somehow at their most beautiful at forty. Don’t you think?

Postcard.To.A.Dear.Friend.

As the woman of forty turns her view opposite, forward, she will see all the blank pages of her life story yet to be lived, experienced and written. She will intertwine the lessons, the histories, of the first forty years and in the second forty weave it into a more colorful, gorgeous tapestry of a life, a tapestry befitting royalty, a life, a love of those around them, a dedication written in the hearts of all those they have touched. You have already lovingly touched a soft piece of my heart, etched your name deeply, permanently there, my dear friend Mila. I am honored to see the beautiful you of forty, and will be equally honored to travel a few more steps with you as you live your history, as you continue to write your pages, my words dispersed in small snippets through your wonderful pages, I am honored to know I have had a small place there, even if only for the brief moments of letters written on the sand to be erased by the tides of the sea. One day, I may have washed away but at some point, even if only for the waxing and waning of a moon, I am here, I am with you, and I feel joy. Happy Birthday Mila! I hope you like the picture my darling Skip Staheli has made of the *SoliDea FoliEs* “40” dress you so kindly gave to us for your birthday.

Postcard.To.A.Dear.Friend.

On to business. I know this is what my dragon, Draakje Dailey, calls “Cao’s version of “Word and Peace.”” The International Model Agency is having a “Sydney Fashion Week’” beginning August 17th 2012 through August 22nd, 2012. *SoliDea FoliEs* will be having a show on August 19th, 2012 at 5AM SLT. Above is the gorgeously colorful, unique offering created by Mila Tatham exclusively for this event. It has so much of the exquisite colors and feel of a native aboriginal costume, I just had to have it! Isn’t it divine?

I hope you get the chance to support these hard working models by attending the shows. I know I will pop into a few just to see the exclusive apparel these wonderful designers have made! I hope you will too! Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh.The.Things.We.Can.Dream.

Caoimhe Lionheart Caged

One of my favorite aspects of Second Life is the whimsy. Sure, you can be a “super model” but you can also bend the depths of reality in a majorly creative way. For the 2012 Miss Virtual World Contest, we were given the assignment of being a scary, sexy super-model. I know, right? But the point is, in SL all things are possible with a little bit of imagination. And for these difficult styling assignments I always have a folder filled with Landmarks labeled ‘Designers Who Like to Play Nice.” Anytime I purchase from a designer who allows their items to be “modified” I drop their LM in this exclusive folder.

For this “project” I truly couldn’t think to do the typical “witch” or “demoness” I wanted my character to be a more “believable” scary sexy thing and thought just the right touch of senility, with a major dish of whimsical, might be the trick. Since some of the items were non-modify, the *SoliDea FoliEs* cages at the midsection and the leg, I had to create around these “static” items a persona of what I call the “crazy bird lady.” Once I had my theme, the rest was just a matter of pulling together the accessories. Two of my FAVE! designers for changing and modifying is “Boudoir” and “Eshi Otawara.” Both designers allow a lot of wiggle room but for this style, Precious Restless and Vitabela Dubrovna of Boudoir seemed the way to go. Since it was Halloween they had a lot of goodies on sale and this outfit was created from the use of the “Veinity Fair” dress and the “Burlesque.” I sized and moved the pieces until the veins poked out of the dress in spots, and recolored the bow (which was brown) to a blood red to match the veins. From here, I added jewlery from Finesmith, the stockings, “Love Girl” are from Eshi Otawara, the hat, Boudoir, is the “Little Birdie” hat which pairs very well with Lelutka’s “Rykiel” in a gorgeous red. The boots are Similar Italian, ‘Genova.” To complete the outfit, what would a crazy bird lady be without the addition of “Blackliquid Tears” found easily at Blackliquid Makeup?

Cao Red Silks by Skip Staheli <3

I wanted to include this picture, it was from the Angel Dessous Semi-Finals, we needed to be a creature from the Hobbit. This entire outfit was “non-modify” but I needed to stay in the Angel Dessous family since they sponsored the contest. The point being, when you look at the vendors, don’t look at the entire picture, look at the pieces and parts of each outfit and visually create your own unique piece. This is actually the parts of 4 different outfits blended together to form one really “scary” (hey I am always just a Cao) Balrog. The jewelry is Finesmith, and the incredible hairs are from MADesigns, and the headpiece is Miamai.

Try not to think about modeling as being a clothes horse. Go out! play! Have fun with Fashion! <3

Accessorize.Your.Beauty.

I can remember when I was young I would hide in my mum’s room and put on all of her jewelry. The emphasis on ALL. It was fun and hey, I was a fashionista in the making. I still can’t afford a lot of jewelry, so I always try to make what I purchase have sustaining value. When it comes to my Second Life though, I am spoiled rotten. Baubles, jewels, metals, I love them all! The one thing I have noticed this season, is so many designer’s are moving from the diamonds and gold fluff and creating unique and gorgeous pieces using semi-precious stones and less traditional metals. It is a remarkable time of year because we can wear less and let our jewelry be our fashion statement.

1 Accessorize.Your.Beauty.

This first picture was taken for me by my friend and fellow model, Kellis Denimore. I am wearing Finesmith’s “Here Comes the Sun” necklace. A gorgeous piece, substantial in weight and delightfully detailed. The earrings, also created by Yula Finesmith, is from the “Let it Drop” collection. One of the wonderful things about Finesmith and casual summer jewelry is you can mix and match between lines and still feel good about yourself in the morning.

2 Accessorize.Your.Beauty.

My second set of jewelry is from Kikunosuke Eel of Mandala. Mandala just released a giant inventory of summer goodies, and as you can see, I couldn’t decide what I liked best so I just threw a lot of it on. I know, I know, you never really lose the little girl wearing all of her mum’s jewelry. For this look I am wearing the “Omochi” necklace and bracelet, the “Anuttra” and “Motsume” (the flower) rings, the gorgeous “watch” is called “Hokusai” and last but not least, I have on the “Leather Feather” earrings. Aren’t the texture’s divine?

3 Accessorize.Your.Beauty.

And last but certainly not least, I just wanted to show you a peek of Kungler’s current offering at TDR (The Dressing Room) because who doesn’t like getting jewelry on sale? This gorgeous ring, earrings and necklace is called “Velouria” and the simple elegance of the items ensure they will glam up any look whether its day to day wear or a more sophisticated evening outfit.

It’s your summer! Shed those layers, winter will be back soon enough, but don’t give up on being swankly chic, let your jewelry do the talking for you! Have a beautyful week!
