2012 Home and Garden Expo benefitting Relay For Life

2012 Home and Garden Expo benefitting Relay For Life

For the next couple days, twice a day, I am going to cover an event very dear to me. Not much of a carouser, bookish by nature, when I am not inworld modeling, I spend so much of my time with my true passion, interior design and gardening. If I could have taken a different path in real life, this is an avenue I would have definitely traveled towards. But this is one of the wonders of Second Life. We can explore these paths not taken. From May 19th to 28th 2012, the Home and Garden Expo is taking place, so if you have a dream to create your one of a kind “home away from home” now is the time to get out there and explore all that is available, and the best part is the event benefits Relay For Life, an organization I am very passionate about having been touched by cancer in my real life.

2012 Home and Garden Expo benefitting Relay For Life

This event, in its 5th year now, is spread across 14 sims (with additional sims for the new breedables fair and entertainment venues). This is the first time I have been and I was amazed by the quality of both the setup, the administration of, and of the inventory available. Having wasted hours looking for “that perfect item” and not really knowing where I would find it, I believe the ‘SL Home and Garden Expo 2012’ is a must see destination. Besides, with the available classes, music, chance to meet designer’s, its definitely a win-win situation, for you, and for fund for the research of cancer. Check out their website for more information about the event. Taxi:

One of the first places I visited was Barnesworth Anubis and I was amazed! This gorgeous gazebo, the furniture and plants, are available and 100% of the proceeds go to Relay For Life. The best part of this gazebo set? For under 500 Lindens (I believe it was 150L each) it can be yours! Stop by today and check it out! . Taxi:

Why is Monday so far from Friday, but Friday is so close to Monday? ~ unknown

ok, ok, so sometimes no matter how hard we try, the weekend just runs away from us and we find ourselves sitting at our desk on a Monday, exhausted from our “relaxing” weekend, and with nothing to blog.. In a quandary, I was clicking through my flickr looking at the pics, boy a year goes by fast, I am glad it was all frozen in time with pictures! So for this blog, I am going to include two of my favorite outfits from KIMMERA MADISON of TRES BEAU Taxi: The sign of a good designer is one who creates beautifully classic and elegant styles that will be just as chic today as they were last year and these two outfits definitely fit the bill.

Caoimhe Lionheart 2

This first outfit, Asia is playfully fun and it is simply perfect for those warmer days with its sleeveless shirt, mandarin collar and soft and silky design. The pants are adorably festooned with scarving to accentuate the hips and gives a sexy peek of a full length of leg. I would wear this incredible outfit about town, to less formal parties and to dance the night away!

Caoimhe Lionheart 1

As the day wears on to evening, and the outfit needs to be updated to something with a little more sophistication, I change into the Princess Aura dress. Detailed with similar draping about the hips, and a mandarin collar, this dress is gorgeous with its scrumptious silk in a lush dark red shade. The Bodice is formfitting, as is the skirt, making this a perfect pairing with a man in a finely tailored suit. But whomever you spend the evening with, there is no doubt you will be the epitome of glamorous elegance.

Cao Ice Skate Tres Beau

But, well, for those other times, you have to wear something right? And having an unseasonably, or would that be unreasonably? Cold day today in RL, my mind has wandered over to one of my favorite winter wear designers, Kimmera Madison of Tres Beau. A few weeks ago the beautiful and talented Julie Hastings created a winter pic for me of the Yuki dress. I just love this dress! Kimmera modeled it after a real world Dior dress, and the detailing is divine!

The color, a sunny citrusy orange with a hint of lime is enough in itself to warm the coldest of days. The ruffled taffeta skirting, which comes with both a long skirt and this playful short one works for any event from something fun, like a day ice skating to even the most ritzy of parties. The gorgeous jeweled snowflakes, the hat and also opaque snow-flaked tights are included. I added another layer of warmth by wearing an under-layer of plain orange tights for this day out in the icy winter. As you can see, there is no reason to wallow about in the snow looking like an oversized stuffed version of yourself!

Do you know those really bloody cold days where you can walk outside and amongst the smell of home fires burning you can actually hear the ice and snow crack it is so cold? This next set, the November set is enough to take away the bone numbing cold! The full outfit, shown in silver fox, has the most scrumptious soft jacket, full sleeves, round collar for burrowing your face into when your cheeks begin to numb and an adorable fur-balled string to bundle you up. The matching hat and boot covers warm the extremities to perfection ensuring you can while away even the coldest of days outdoors. And how often do you log into SL and have to throw a folder on to get somewhere fast? Kimmera thoughtfully created this outfit as an entire package, because the gorgeous cowl-necked wool sweater and wool plaid leggings are included. Don’t you agree this is such an elegantly classic look?

Hmmm, on second thought, why go out into the cold at all? This sexy coat, shown in mink can warm up the draftiest of days. You’ll be able to set a fire without even leaving the house. Not wanting any of my friends to ever be chilled, I’ve even included the taxi. <3 Taxi:

LBD Night Love and Glitter pants, available at Leezu!

I love Leezu! She has so many styles, so many genre’s of clothing and I’ve yet to find an outfit I didn’t like. They are always well tailored, designed empeccably and with attention to all details. Everything Leezu Baxter designs is kicky, playful, and oh so cool! The pants on this outfit are sequined and cheeky. The blouse, a dream with its matching sequins and open front, showing just enough to tantalize! This outfit works for meetings and after work get togethers with friends because it dresses down or dresses up divinely!

Are you looking for something unique to kick up your wardrobe for the New Year? Check all that Leezu! has to offer! <3 Taxi:

LEros, one of the elegant designs available at Angel Dessous

There is one certainty about me, I only blog those designers whose designs I truly love! One of these designers is and always has been Angel Dessous. Nando Korobase and Gina Beaumont bring one of the things I most require of a designer, consistency. I don’t think I have ever been disappointed in a single item I have purchased in store, from their incredibly sexy lingerie to their most formal of elegant gowns. I love their line so much, I considered it one of my greatest honors when Nando agreed to make my Miss Virtual World Formal. What a gorgeous elegant gown Seoul is. Nando seemed to somehow design this gown exactly as I would have designed my own, if I knew how. He took the elements that were me and the talent for design that is his and created perfection. Similarly, the dress in the above picture is no less elegant! It is the L’Eros. The bodice is a tight-knit lace, scrumptious about the neck, the skirt is a delightful cocktail length, lacey enough to be sexy, yet covers demurely. Simply exquisite.

But I think the reason I’ve waited a few weeks to blog Angel Dessous is indecision on my part, I wanted to wait until after the Angel Dessous Finals were over. But after the semi-finals I realized, this blog will matter nothing a’tall to the outcome because this blog is actually about a journey. My very first contest pic, before I was even a model was June 2010 for Angel of the Month and oddly, or perhaps more to the incredible talent of Skip Staheli, I won. When Nando contacted me about winning, I was at a total loss for words, I’d never in my life had a designer contact me. To me, designers are like superheros, on a plain way above mere avatars and I was speechless. His kindness, his respectful nature, launched me on a journey that has made me grow, as a model and as a real life person. His beautyful Leandra took me under her wing and pointed me where I needed to travel to learn about modeling and through it my SL family was born. A modeling “career” was launched, a family, a community of friends has been forged, and my Second Life became so much more multi-faceted than ever before. So when I was at the semi-finals last week, as we waited to walk, I looked around at the beautyfully styled models around me, all talented, all gorgeous, and all in my friends list and knew right then, WHO becomes the Angel of Angel Dessous just doesn’t really matter, because to me, I’ve already won so much more than a title, I’ve found a solid family, and a solid group of helpful, loving friends. So now, so much less nervous than my Angel Dessous finals of last year, I can relax, sit back and enjoy the outcome, because win or lose, it’s the incredible journey that is the win.

Below is my styling for the semi-finals. In this test, we were to style something similar to characters of the Hobbit movies. I used a combination of the L’Eros and the Divine outfits and my stylings represent a female Balrog. It was a difficult styling to say the least, and truly tested my vanity. I didn’t want to be quite so ugly as a Balrog, but knew a “princessy” one wouldn’t do either. I was uncertain exactly what AD would be looking for in this styling but in the end, I threw caution to the wind and just went with it. I hope you like. Check out Angel Dessous today, I know you will find so many styles that will be a creative addition to your wardrobe! Taxi:

Not your Mama’s lingerie..

Coming soon to an Angel Dessous near you!

Those who know me, know I do not have a partner, or even an “other” in Second Life. Sometimes being a model is a lonely life, but thankfully I have been blessed with some of the best friends in world, in real life and this second life. But, even being single, there is just a couple of things you can’t take away from this girl. My over-zealous love of hats (see prior post), hairs, shoos, and yes, that other ultra-feminine piece of attire, knickers!

I just love to wear them! To my neighbors delight, I suppose, some days I don’t even bother to dress but just hang around the house wearing my softest, oldest, most comfortable Angel Dessous lingerie set. Trust me, I have never had an Angel Dessous design I didn’t absolutely adore! Nando Korobase and Gina Beaumont have their craft to an art! I do not say this lightly either, look at my flickr, there are pages of me in Angel Dessous lingerie, in fact there is not a single picture of me wearing a competitor’s lingerie. The reason? I always know I am buying what’s on the vendor Ad and it will always look perfect with minimum prim edit.

I wore this set for an upcoming picture in Moolto’s More magazine. And it will be released soon. Look at the incredible details, from the little bows, the gorgeous lace and the sweet shiny, satiny bra! There is nothing of this that isn’t tres chic and simply elegant. If Angel Dessous can make me, a clumsy self-professed goofy girl, look sexy, imagine how it will drive your man to his knees! I hope to see more happy fellows and their ladies in Second Life soon. Trust me, your neighbor will thank you! Muwah! Have a beautyful weekend! <3

I repeat: cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau; in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero

This gorgeous hat is now available at My Precious

One of my favorite experiences growing up was the TV “movie” Dr. Seuss’s “Cat in the Hat.” If you peruse my flickr, you will see I wear them, well, quite often to say the least. Though I can’t truly say the Cat in the Hat has caused my obsessive love oh hats, I like to think it had something to do with it because I always find hats to be the perfect pick me up to a otherwise dull dress-up day.

Anyone who has been in Second Life for any length of time remembers how atrocious hats used to be, OMGoodness, do you recall? First of all, they were HUGE! To make matters worse, your hairs would stick out everywhere on them! It was not a happy time to be addicted to hats, for sure. But now, wow, there are so many incredible hats, and even hats with hairs out there on the market. When I do an art pic, I love to wear hats, they add an added dimension of focal point to the artwork.

One of my favorite hatmakers is Agnes Finney. She makes the most incredible hats to sell in her My Precious stores, from the elegant to the extraordinary, she has made them all. Forgive first, that this is only a snapshot of a hat that would be much the more beautiful with a conscientuous photographer, but even with my limited skills with photoshop, you can see what a luscious work of art it truly is. This hat is called the Angel Hope Feather and it lives completely to its name. It has the most delightful flower to bring a smile to the face, sweet feathers to uplift the spirits and is an elegant addition to whatever outfit you are wearing. If you have a special event planned, or want to create a favored picture, I would suggest checking them out. I know you will not be disappointed. I know I wasn’t <3

Nothing is more gorgeous than a Purple Moon..

I have to admit, I have held this post a few weeks because I wanted to wait until the “Essence of Purple Moon” contest was over because I didn’t want it to appear I was trying to swing a vote my way. Not that this is possible when there are multiple judges involved in a contest, I just didn’t want to give any appearance of impropriety. But honestly? I’d blog Purple Moon whether I was in the contest or not. I wasn’t going to enter a’tall, but my little dragon, Draakje talked me into it.

That said, I am very honored to be titled the Essence of Purple Moon, because those who know me, know I do not enter very many contest and I only enter contests in which I truly love the designs of the designer. I simply adore Purple Moon Designs. Whether its the dayware or the evening attire, I have never purchased anything from ::Purple Moon:: that required major prim editing or appeared different than what was shown on the Ad board. For this, I thank Poulet from the bottom of my heart, because prim editing is equivalent to a trip to the doctor for me. In a world where a lot of time is spent “fixing” things, to be able to throw something on and have it immediately look divine, is awe inspiring to say the least. Kudos to you, Ms. Poulet for taking the time and paying attention to the smallest of details.

For the contest I chose the PM “Chok” gown in a jeweled shade of purple. The dress is simple in its satin elegance, but accentuates the models shape to perfection, cinched at the waist, small straps across the back for detail and an exquisite upturned Shawl-type collar which adds gracefulness and beauty to the wearer’s neck and face. The dress could be done here, but Ms. Poulet chose to make it resplendent with gorgeous silver stitching along the banding of the mermaid skirt. It’s these extra details, which raise Purple Moon to the creme de la creme of Second Life Fashion.

Perfect Summer Apparel, now at Chantkare

Chankares Americana Series

Just in time for the United States’ 4th of July celebration, Applonia Criss (http://chantkare.wordpress.com/ ) released her awaited Americana series. I popped over as soon as it was released and picked up the outfit shown (I apologize in advance on the pic, I wanted to post this quickly and didn’t wait this time for a photographer). It has an incredible “American flag” halter, easy and breezy for any summer celebration and a slim fitting pair of button up jeans. I also purchased the Linen jacket in case the evening turned chilly while awaiting the fireworks display and a sweet and summery pullover linen dress should I need a quick change of clothes. As those who know me can state, I am a bit of a klutzy girl and with all this water about, I’ve been known to land in..

I think the reason I enjoy this offering from Chantkare so much is it harkens to a youthful memory of living at the beach and wearing a very similar faire created by the designer Ralph Lauren. Those wonderful youthful days of sunshine, salt air, watermelon, fireworks and popsicles. I think some of the best designed clothes are the classics. They fit well, last long and always looked comfortably lived in. Thank so much Applonia for bringing such a wonderful feel of nostalgia to my Real Life and my Second Life.
