On Santa Claus

What is the real purpose behind the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus? They seem like greater steps toward faith and imagination, each with a payoff. Like cognitive training exercises. ~Chuck Palahniuk

Barefoot on the Beach

A simple life is good with me. I don’t need a whole lot. For me, a T-shirt, a pair of shorts, barefoot on a beach and I’m happy. ~Yanni

Attitude Leaning Toward Gratitude

On vacation, you can wear all the colorful and casual clothing that you like, but you must always be elegant. ~Christian Dior

Attitude Leaning Toward GratitudeHat/Hair: Eater’s Coma, Hair 53 **2014 Hair Fair* . Dress: Drift, Stellina Slip Dress . Skin: Glam Affair, Cassia **Fifty Linden Friday** (w. new brows from the Rose Skin) . Pose: KaTinks, Haute **NEW** .

While inworld on my lunch hour I rambled over to Glam Affair because I liked the Cassia skin and I’d never bought anything anywhere for a 50 Linden Friday. To be honest, it’s been a long time since I bought anything for 50 Lindens, period. It took me a while to find it, yeah I know, it’s right outside the front door, but I am a cow and sometimes its the easiest things that are the most confusing. When I landed back at my platform I was fingering through the hairs I have from 2014 Hair Fair and realized I have an awful lot of hairs left and will need to double up my blog if I hope to finish blogging them all by July 27th, 2014, the last day. I won’t make a statement about age and time, it’s been done, but I hope you forgive me for littering your inbox with spam this upcoming week. I teamed the skin with the easy-going Eater’s Coma hair and a new sexy silky floral slip from Drift to create a comfortably sweet casual look perfect for a mellow Friday night with friends. Wanna come? We’ll leave the light on so you can find us!

There’s a Crustacean on My Face

With each passage of human growth we must shed a protective structure [like a hardy crustacean]. We are left exposed and vulnerable – but also yeasty and embryonic again, capable of stretching in ways we hadn’t known before.~ Gail Sheehy

Train Your Dragon

Hiccup: This is Berk. It snows nine months of the year, and hails the other three. Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so. The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies or parrots… we have… dragons.

Not Standing Still

For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future. ~John F Kennedy

Not Standing StillHair: [sYs], Hanayo **Hair Fair 2014** .

I’ve often been told I have a very “old soul.” I didn’t think really hard about it, but by the time the third or fourth person made the comment I began to wonder why. I’m not truly sure still, but I reckon it’s due to a couple of factors. I have always been bookish, even in very young childhood but I am more so now, if possible. So I’ve learned a bit about human nature, nurture, and an insane amount of minute facts that tend to have no reward but to clutter my brain (or make me quite clever at the show Jeopardy). As an introvert, I spend a great deal of time watching and thinking, preferring this past time to actually speaking to people. Don’t get me wrong, I love, I absolutely adore, people. We are all so colorful, beautiful, smart, silly, cagey, grouchy, happy, sad, under-educated, over educated, homebody, busybody, well-travelled and not so much and so many other techno-colors of uniqueness. I adore you all because under this unique exterior we all share so many qualities; kindness, anger, meanness, hope, no hope, and most of all the urge to be loved. But when it comes to life, I prefer my place sitting on the bench watching and listening to interactions to being the center of activity. Having lived my entire life with this quietness seems to give a person a predisposition to listening to the little voice within, the visceral intuition we are all born with, but some choose to ignore. So perhaps these are the qualities of an “old soul.” But I do know one thing, it’s time.

So the take from? Yeah, it’s time. Wouldn’t the world be such a wonderful place if we all realized that under it all, we are all the same? We want food, shelter, clothing, well I do anyway, mama buy me some Jimmy Choos! We breathe air, bleed when cut, have hopes and dreams, some of which are stomped on and shattered by others. Some no one can ever take from us. We stress, get tired and sick and dimes to donuts we’ve probably all loved and lost someone because no one is an island. No one is invincible, we all have moments to stand tall, usually cross referenced by the moments that we fall. But we are all here, why not embrace the good of those around you and forgive them their “bad?” Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all learned people isn’t singular, it’s plural. And that guy next to you that you don’t like very much? Well he’s people too. And the fact that one person loves another person, it’s really not your love affair to choose, it’s their’s. I feel like I can stand on the beach with my arms wide, the sun kissing my face, my fingers splayed and wind whispering all about me, lifting my hair and bringing me shivers and so often it makes me think of love. This is how I feel about love, like the wind it whispers softly about me, through my fingertips, touching me but just out of my reach. Love is like the wind, you can’t see it, taste it or touch it and only with faith can it exist. You have to close your eyes, breathe deeply and just feel it moving within you. You just have to believe it’s there. I can trust in love, and I can trust in others to love whom is theirs. Mark Twain wrote much more eloquent than I ever could when he penned, “Loyalty to petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul.” I Stand4Love because it’s the right thing, the only human thing I can do.

As We Age

When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it had happened or not; but my faculties are decaying now and soon I shall be so I cannot remember any but the things that never happened. It is sad to go to pieces like this but we all have to do it. ~ Mark Twain
