Emerging Slowly

Very short blog today, it is so late, but I’ve been away so long I am hoping starting here will be the way to re-begin, post surgery. Because my blog has long been one of my happiest places to inhabit. I’m not going to get too much into it today, but I think I will some time this week, I know I have some curious friends, (you know who you are). The surgery went well medically, what I didn’t count on was the psychological effect of surgery and quite frankly I’ve been very sad this past few days. But that was then and this is now. I am going to work through this by pushing on, feeling sunshine on my face, embracing my friends just a little bit tighter and stopping to smell the salty ocean air as it wisps across my lips.

Take from? Depression hits each of us at some point in our lives. The difference is in how we deal with it and sometimes even how others deal with us. I love the positive words I’ve received lately, so many of you are just plain good people. Salt of the Earth, really. I look forward to exploring this new chapter of my life and I am thankful I have so many of you to share it with. I have time for one more quick walk on the beach, but I hope to see you tomorrow! I had such a great time with this styling, I even included the taxi for you! 1. The photos are so fitting, my lil Cao 🙂 I know you will try to take off the sadness that is masking your usual, sunny self. It may take time, but you know you have the love and support of so many people who love you.

  2. Glad to hear you are doing well post-surgery, Lil’ One. ❤

Having lost loved ones to depression, I cannot let go of one clarification in case someone misunderstands your point. Hope you forgive me. I just have to emphasize that the depression that hits _all_ of us at some point and can be dealt with by moving-on/plowing-ahead/etc is different than the medical use of the term "depression", which is not about the affected person's attitude or dealing with a particular event , and instead needs medical help and treatment.

  3. I’m glad to see you come up in the reader but please Cao go slow your health and well being is paramount. As with any loss of self be it physical or mental an adjustment time is expected. I’m glad your surrounded by love, hope and strength in your life .
    Always

  4. Ma petite vache…sadness is only an exhale away from inhaling light.

    You are loved ❤ ❤

  5. Beautiful colours, styling and composition as always, I love the look and I may have the same if not similar ‘cats eyes’ make up! Luscious. No one can tell you whether you feel ‘depressed’ or not only you will know that but it’s always good to share and we are all thinking of you. What we can all see though is how much creativity lifts your spirit …. and with every post ours too! Hugzzz

      1. What a lovely thing to say…you’re the real inspiration with all your positivity and creativity. Good use of the word ‘chuckling’ by the way, we will make an honorary Brit out of you yet! Your next challenge is to use the word ‘chuffed’ in a comment over the next week…Stay positive and if you need anything let me know as I’m a good listener…

  6. I know the feeling… been there a while myself. Sometimes it is just enough to breed. Dont demand too much of yourself . Inspiration and creativity often suffer under these circumstances so let the blog rest until u are up on your feet *hugs*

  7. Its totally normal to be down after a difficult time like that surgery is scary no matter what. I send you lots of love and good feelings. These things always pass over time.

  8. Huggsssss.

We’ve missed you on plurk, so I came over to see where you were. I’m glad you are still with us, and that things seem to be looking a little brighter as your last comment mentions.

  9. Dear Cao,

The feelings are normal after surgery. You will hopefully be full up and going soon but please give yourself some time.

We feel vulnerable after surgery. But I promise you will feel better.

Love the Venice Carnival feel of your outfit.

    Much love,
    Landa
