Things have been a little disconcerting lately with the comments made about other people in FB and Second Life. And I suppose when it came to the Meta-whatever pageant I played a part too. Naw, I still can’t take back the comments on that blog, I meant them with every fiber of my being. I tried to handle it tactfully in step one exclusively with the person I made the comments about, but still. The thing is, if we’ve nothing nice to say, why take it out on the next guy? Which is actually what I was mentioning to Metaverse guy come to think about it. That kind of trolling isn’t very attractive. What is wrong with us that we are so perpetually bored, like cats playing with a mouse, we choose to toy with others inflicting pain and suffering?
Take from? Life is complicated as it is, but why are we always trying to unravel it? Can’t we just let others exist without toying with them, trying to take them apart at the seams? I don’t know the answer, but I reckon American author Renata Adler comes pretty close when she said, “Idle people are often bored and bored people, unless they sleep a lot, are cruel. It is not accident that boredom and cruelty are great preoccupations in our time.” Just running off at the keyboard, take it for whatever its worth to you. I know, probably not all that much.
