Princess Cut From Glass

Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Gentleness means recognizing that the world around us is fragile, especially other people. It is recognizing our own capacity to do harm and choosing instead to be tender, soft-spoken, soft-hearted, and careful. When we are gentle we touch the world in ways that protect and preserve it.

Being a gentle person doesn’t mean you are weak;  having a gentle nature can be a sign of firm strength, it can even be one of our most powerful tools. To behave in a gentle manner requires that we stay centered in our own core values and strength, that we act in an active manner rather than a reactive one. Coming from this center of our soul, a gentle word or touch can channel our energy into healing or making peace with others.

  1. There are days this world really does get to me, as I put my head down on a table in despair. Yes, gentleness is the way to be! To keep walking this Path in a world that is harsh, some days, is extremely challenging. Great post, Cao. Thank you. Love, Amy

  2. I used to think ‘gentle’ didn’t get me anywhere. In fact, it put me straight into the middle of an abusive relationship in SL for a number of years. But why should we drop to the level of the abusers? It doesn’t change what we are at the core, as you say my friend. And that is so much better than the people who behave badly.

I'm done inconveniencing electrons, any thoughts? Come on, you know you have 'em, post them up here.
